7 Steps to Stress-Free Selling

Stay Stress-Free: Stress will cause you to burn out and work less effectively. Here are a few ways to work as hard as you can without feeling too many of the residual effects that stress causes.

1. Remind yourself why you are selling

Figure out your “why” for selling your home in the first place. This is something you can continuously go back to throughout the selling process. When one thing after another seems to be going wrong, it is helpful to take a step back and remember why selling your home is important to you. This will give you a better perspective and those problems you were facing may begin to seem unimportant.

2. Listen to the market

To you, your home may be priceless, but the market puts a price on it, and sometimes it is not as high as you would like. Compare your house to ones around you that have recently sold to help determine your price. This will help you go into the selling process knowing what to expect so you do not get disappointed.

3. Be flexible when making a deal

Things change, and you must change with them. They don’t usually go as planned, and that leads to your stress levels rising. Take it step by step and resolve one problem at a time. Figure out what you need to do to resolve the issue and focus on the positives.

4. Pre-qualify your buyer

When you get your first offer it can be exciting, especially if you’ve been waiting a while, and you might want to rush into making a deal. Before you do so, make sure your buyer can close the deal. Nothing is more frustrating than getting excited over selling your home just to realize your buyer can’t afford it. Have them give you their loan approval letter and make sure it is pre-approval.

5. Don’t forget that you are the boss

Although it may feel like the buyers have all the power, you get to make the final decisions. You get to decide what to set the price at and whom you decide to sell to. It is up to you if you want to fix up the house before you put it on the market or if you want to keep it how it is. You are the boss and don’t let anyone make you think otherwise.

6. Use your agent!

That is what they are there for. Don’t be afraid to ask your real estate agent questions or let them know what you have in mind. If you are confused or stressed let your agent know. Often, they have experienced the problem before and already know what needs to be done to resolve the issue. Their job is to make the selling process easier for you.
